Press Release  -  April 23, 2010
Bell County Bond Rating Upgraded to AA+

For the third time since 2001, Bell County's Credit Rating has been upgraded by Standards and Poors Credit Rating Agency.  In 2001, the County Bond Rating was increased from A to AA-.  In 2008, it was further upgraded to AA.  This week, Bell County's Bond Rating was increased to AA+.

Out of 254 Counties in Texas, 6 of the largest counties have the AAA rating.  Bell County joins only 6 other Texas Counties that have the AA+ rating.

"During these economic times, it is rewarding to see the strong financial performance and conservative budgeting practices of Bell County recognized by Standards and Poors," said Jon Burrows, Bell County Judge.  "This ratings increase will save taxpayers thousands of dollars in interest due to the attractive interest rates now available to Bell County."
