- Find and list examples of natural objects representing each number 1 to 10. Also, record
objects representing numbers larger than ten.
- Examples - A tree has one trunk, a spider has eight legs, a bird has two wings, there
are ten buzzards in a tree, Poison Ivy has three leaflets.
- Divide the students into pairs or small groups.
- Define the area or trail to be used.
- Have the students record the number and the object that represents it on paper.
- Questions: Which numbers seemed more difficult to find, odd or even numbers? Why do you
think this is so?
- Who found the largest number of objects?
