Distance Education Links

Distance Education may be considered by some to be in its infancy, but it is maturing at rapid rates through the infusion of cutting edge technology  The following sites listed are meant to be a "help" to the distant student, administrator, instructors and others interested in distance education. The following sites will provide additional web links for the user to explore. The links are active and will provide a variety of good resources for the anyone interested in learning more about distance education. In addition, a solid foundation of knowledge pertaining to distance education will be established through a user friendly environment.

Distance Education at a Glance
This site is a series of 13 guides to help distance education students, teachers and administrators understand, instruct and evaluate distance education programs.  The site is produced by Dr. Barry Willis, the Associate Dean of Outreach and Engineering Outreach Dept. at University of Idaho. It is well organized and will be a asset to any person wanting to explore the concept of distance education in more depth.

Distance Learning Resource Network (DLRN)
The Distance Learning Resource Network (DLRN) is a West Ed project, that disseminates distance education. This site originates from San Francisco, California and is ideal including the following contents: "About Distance Learning | About Star Schools | Finding other Distance Learning Programs | Web Based Instruction | News & Publications Literature Reviews & Reports | Other Resources."

Distance Education Clearinghouse
This site focuses on multiple issues including current news, technology trends, evaluation ,over 3800 international publications and links to the Chronicle of Higher Education. USA Today's Top Tech Reports are also included the site. The site is user friendly and published by the University of Wisconsin with a wealth of distanced education resources.

Distance Education II
This site provides an online guide published by the Texas Center for Educational Technology. Distance Education II: Research, Current Practice, and House Bill 2128 is written by Mark Mortensen, George Hubbard, Beverly Rodgers and focuses primarily on the concepts of distance education, legislative support of distance education, the infusion of technology and the evaluation of distance education programs.

Advanced Methods of Distance Education
This site is developed by Texas A&M University and published by Dr. Tim Murphy and Dr. Kim Dooley for the Ag Ed 689 graduate course.  The site offers reaction papers reflecting comments on distance education research, methods, evaluation, administration and futuring to name a few. The site includes an objective matrix focusing on the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of Bloom's Taxonomy.  The site is well organized and one that will be of great value to interested distance education audiences.
