"The Bell County Sheriff's Office is a diversified, progressive law
enforcement agency with many varied responsibilities, including; patrol,
investigations, civil/criminal process, court security, and jail
management. The role of the sheriff has evolved over the years
from one of a roving, gun toting lawman leading a posse, to that of a
high-tech, computer equipped business manager who spends more time
reading law books than wanted posters. Yet, many of the longtime
traditions of the office are still prevalent and The Sheriff is
still looked upon by the local citizenry as their personal law
enforcement representative.
